We are proud and passionate practitioners and teachers of Japanese sword arts having roots in ancient/feudal Japan. Based in Oslo, Norway we continue the teachings and philosophies gifted to us by some of the most proficient warriors in human history. These arts include iaijutsu and kenjutsu.
Iaijutsu is the art of drawing the sword and cutting in one fluid motion. The name reflects the principle of “heightened awareness and immediate response.” We practice with unsharpened, imitation swords, called iaito, specifically for this discipline.
Kenjutsu means “the art of the sword.” Practiced in pairs using wooden swords, called bokken, this was how samurai maintained their skills between battles. Through structured partner exercises, we learn timing, distance, and the principles of engagement.
The form we practice is Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaijutsu, a school founded in the mid-1500s. Passed down through generations of masters, this living tradition offers well established wisdom and a means for personal growth.
The samurai followed Bushido, “the way of the warrior”, a strict code embodying seven virtues: Honesty, Righteousness, Compassion, Courage, Honor, Loyalty, and Respect. We cultivate these qualities through training, emphasizing equality and mutual respect while understanding that everyone is different, and no one is perfect.
“You can’t be the best overnight but today you can be a little better than yourself yesterday.”
